Abu Simbel is an ancient temple complex, originally cut into a solid rock cliff, in southern Egypt ???????? and located at the second cataract of the  #Nile River . The two temples which comprise the site were created during the reign of Ramesses II. the temples are dedicated to the gods Ra-Horakty, Ptah, and the deified Ramesses II (The Great Temple) and the goddess Hathor and Queen Nefertari, Ramesses’ favourite wife (The Small Temple). It was uncovered and first excavated (or looted) by the italian Giovanni Belzoni (as Keffren pyramid) in 1817. ———————————————————————————️ In ancient times the area was at the southern frontier of pharaonic #Egypt, facing Nubia. By means of a complex and AMAZING engineering feat in the 1960s, the temples were salvaged from the rising waters of the Nile River caused by erection of the Aswan High Dam. ——————————————————————————- ???????? ———————————————————————————– #pyramid #travelgirl #travellover #globetrotter #holidaytime #traveladdict #wearetravelgirls #sheisnotlost #ilovetravel #solotravel #soychicaviajera #seetheworld #travelcommunity #photooftheday #womenwhoexplore #worldtourists #traveltagged #beautifuldestination #placestogo #world_besttravel #travel_captures #travelblogger #travelling #newfemaletravelers #travelgirlshub #bnesimppl #visitegypt #egipto
