Check out this awesome irridescent daddy-long-legs we saw in Ecuador! Doesn’t it look just like it has an angry cartoon face on its back?
There are a lot of myths and confusion about daddy long legs, which is made extra confusing by the fact that we actually call multiple different critters this name! The little fella in this photo is in the order Opiliones which means he’s actually NOT a spider! You can tell this because the body is one round ball with a cute little head attached compared to spiders that have distinct thorax and abdomen sections. They are however arachnids, so if you thought they were spiders you were at least close. ️
