How could I not wear my #gettingbacktomyself T-shirt here at Machu Picchu.

It’s amazing to see the instagram photos with the pretty girls in flowy dresses basking in the sun in front of the ruins, but sometimes reality is different. We had a lot of mist, which cleared up only close to the time we left and others were even less fortunate as they had rain and could not see that much. It’s always good to go into a place without expectations so you are not disappointed and can enjoy it to the fullest. For me, Machu Picchu itself was not mind-blowing. What made my trip all worth it was the the entirety of my 5-day Salkantay trek culminating at the ruins. I had never done a multi-day hike up until then, and I was so proud of myself when I took this photo, because I had done it, I had reached my destination. If you’re ever thinking of going to Machi Picchu, I totally recommend doing one of the hikes; you will not regret it!
