I had an interesting talk with my father the other day. He gave me some advice from his own life experiences and I’m really happy he shared this with me ️

One of the most ironic things of the human mind is that we are programmed to think negatively, yet, we tend to appreciate something more when it’s in the past. When a situation is taking place, and we get fed up with something, then automatically our minds make us think that everything is bad and we simply close our eyes to the many good things that are still there. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We desperately want to get rid of whatever is happening to us. However, when we actually move on and new challenges appear, we suddenly start to miss that ‘bad thing’ we had. It wasn’t that bad after all. It was pretty good actually, but now it’s lost.

Moral of the story is to always appreciate what you have. There is nothing wrong with striving for and working towards something better. But if we don’t practice gratitude for what we have today, then it might become tomorrow’s loss
