If you are doing research prior to travelling to Morocco, I am sure you will hear about a type of accommodation called a Riad. If you are wondering what that is, here is your answer. A traditional Moroccan riad is essentially a rectangular house with an interior courtyard. There are typically different rooms on each of the four sides, and most Riads are at least two stories high. The middle often has a courtyard with a garden and serves as the “lounge” and eating place for guests. The courtyard in the middle is typically open from the top and is the house’s only source of natural light. Many Riads have a rooftop sitting area, some with an amazing view and even a pool. If you want an authentic Moroccan experience, spending some time in a Riad should be on your list. Riads can be found in virtually every city and your visit won’t be complete without staying in one. Additionally Riads are usually found in the medinas of Morocco, which you definitely don’t want to miss! Two birds.. one stone. These homes offer a complete escape from the hustle going on outside and it is said that once you step into a Riad, you will feel like you are in heaven. Let us know if you want to stay in one of these authentic Moroccan homes for part or all of your trip, as well as the cities you would like to visit and we will ensure you have a memorable experience!
