It’s a custom in Indian household to light up oil lamps in the evening when darkness slowly engulfs us.
It symbolises warmth of Hope and well-being.
From the point of science, the oil is a mixture of ghee and other essential oils which burn and keep the insects away. It also has medicinal properties.
