Mount Popa is no other than primate paradise. It’s their rock and their temple, whatever the monks’ll tell you. A few steps in is all it takes to understand where the expression “cheeky monkey” comes from. Undisciplined children, impulsive teenagers, uneducated adults, compare them to what you like – Mount Popa was like a giant playground of unruly students. In the 6th photo, the monkey had nicked a handful of thin candles which he started chewing on before realising the stolen snack just wasn’t going to cut it for him…
