Shakespear & Company is a old famous traditional bookstore located on the left bank of Paris.
The store features several floors of books, stacked in every nook and corner from floor to celing. Each room is home to a different genre. One can get lost and discover The mirror of love,pianos, antique writing desks & vintage typewriters. The staircase reads “I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being “. The top floor leads to a open aired reading room with a balcony.
The interesting part about Shakespear & Company is that it throws its doors open to wandering writers & artists which they call Tumbleweeds. About 40,000 people have slept here. The Tumbleweeds sleep on folded crash beds that have been placed throughout the bookshop.
Tumbleweeds can stay as long as they:
-Read a book a day.
-Help out in the shop.
-Write a one-page autobiography, with the storeâs typewriters.
