The legend describes an incarnation of Guanyin as the daughter of a cruel king who wanted her to marry a wealthy but uncaring man. She refused and as an act of rivalry she end up as a nun. Years later her father The King ended-up ill with jaundice. No physician was able to cure him. Then a monk suggested only the hands and the eyes of one of his daughters will save him. The only daughter willing to do this sacrifice was the nun.
