Today we hiked up Volcán Sierra Negra, one of the six volcanoes that make up this island ⠀
⠀
⠀
It’s last eruption was in 2018 and it was incredible to see how the volcano has formed the landscape! It gave us an idea of what the other islands would have looked like millions of years ago. ⠀
⠀
⠀
You could see exactly how the lava had moved across the land and hardened along the way. The area closest to the recent eruptions had no vegetation, but as we moved further away from it, there were some cacti and smaller plants that had started to grow. Not too far past that was the land that was untouched by more recent eruptions and absolutely bursting with life!⠀
⠀
⠀
It’s so cool to see how the island can build itself up! Unfortunately, there were no romantic surprises for me at the top of this volcano maybe next time????
