As the daughter of a firefighter, September 11th means a great deal to me and my family. This summer I got to share my boyfriend’s first experience at the memorial resting where these buildings once stood tall. It was a solemn, quiet, reflective time as I shared with him how these events impacted my family and our friends.
September 11th has taught us many lessons as a nation, but one that we continually remind our students of today while we teach is that we need to speak lovingly to our family, friends, and strangers. A little kindness can go a long way. These children have grown their entire lives without having experienced the first hand trauma of 9/11, and it’s important that we all continue to instill the concepts of faith, hope and love in the world to the generations that come.
