1. Lake Atitlan is a huge lake with lovely,but very distinct villages around. We definitely recommend San Pedro. Tons of activity to do during the day including renting kayaks and enjoying the view
2. In terms of exchanging US dollars, you get the best exchange rate if you have large bills (50s and 100s). In San Pedro, most tourism places will exchange dollars. Make sure to go from one place to the next looking for a better rate. Don’t take the first rate you hear. –
