Log on to Spotify and get a playlist going. You’re headed anywhere and everywhere, and nobody is going to stop you. They may ask, “who are you going with?”; this is when you confidently reply “me”. That’s right. Nobody has quite the spirit that you do. You can adventure into unknown places and make yourself comfortable with the company of only you, yourself, and…you.

Very few people take the time to work on their personal growth and embark on a journey across the globe, but you are an exception. We applaud you. If you’re having a little difficulty deciding on exactly where, we’ll give you a few places to keep in the back of your mind. Here’s our top five.

Cape Town

The wondrous place of South Africa. Dr. Seuss encouraged you to keep travelling in his book, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!. We think this is what he was hinting at. Cape Town is the heart of South Africa. It is known for its vibrant and active city full of a vast variety of people. The culture brings along fun times with its world-class wine and summer-time vibe year-long. You can also guarantee that the locals here are going to treat you like their own. Enjoy the beautiful beaches on the globally-known peninsula named the Cape of Good Hope, hike the gorgeous Table Mountain, visit Robben Island prison where Mandela was once captive, or just enjoy the spirits of the nightlife here.
The city isn’t the only thing that attracts. Outside of the city, you find an entirely new life only a couple minutes out. It is exactly what you picture in the connotation of Africa– a safari full of lions, elephants, etc. The locals are friendly enough to take you on tours for a very affordable price. Sounds like the perfect solo expedition, right?

Australia

Not too far from South Africa, comes the coolest continent in the world: Australia. Here, you find the friendliest of people, the warmest of weather, and the memories of a lifetime. It isn’t just a city, but if you are already making out this far by yourself, what’s a few extra miles to travel from Sydney to Melbourne. Speaking of Sydney, you’ve seen the Sydney Opera House, right? It is just as cool as it looks in every picture. Treat yourself to a show here while staying in this amazing city. There’s plenty to do in Sydney, including the best surfing and snorkeling in the world (at least we think so!). After this one city gets your heart ready, there is plenty more right down the coastline. Melbourne has been ranked as one of the top 30 cities to visit solo by Business Insider. Best of luck on your solo vacation, mate!

Norway

Would you like some beautiful views, safety, and peace of mind? Look no further. Ranked with one of the lowest country crime rates in the world, Norway is aligned with complete serenity. A solo trip here would give you the rest and discovery that you have been desperate of for so long. I mean, have you heard of a fjord? It is defined as a deep inlet between high cliffs and the sea. Ah, yes. Go look at a few images of Norway’s fjords and tell us that you can’t see yourself looking at the views around you while taking a deep inhale and exhale. Absolutely stunning. Sure, the nightlife and the mingling may not all be there, but you and your happiness, they are definitely waiting for you in this place.

Costa Rica

If you are happy and you know it (or want to be), clap your hands! Costa Rica has been ranked as the happiest place on the face of the Earth by the Happy Planet Index. Take a trip here and do some fun water activities on this breathtaking island. Walk around. Talk to some people. It will change you forever. People here have so little, but yet, they are so content. They enjoy life to its fullest, and we’re guessing that if you are planning a trip for yourself, you are too. Go be with your type of people!

Kyoto

Yep. Kyoto has immense culture and heritage. It has been the imperial capital of Japan for over 1000 years. Temples, gardens and parks abound. That’s all we really need to say. Just let yourself go and enjoy a new world. Here are some more fabulous suggestions of what to do in Asia.

No matter which place you choose on the list, there is nowhere that you can go wrong. The only thing that can go wrong is that you lose communication with people back home. When you say you are travelling alone to a completely different and unknown place on Earth, your loved ones will either tell you no or tell you to bring somebody with you. They may be wrong, but they just want you to be safe. You should at least have cellular coverage in these places, and that is where BNESIM comes along. They have an international SIM card to keep you in touch with those that love you, and help in saving you the ridiculous roaming charges that your local carrier would likely charge.
Now, just go be yourself, solo and free.
